BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
A visa does not guarantee entry 🛂
A valid visa usually allows its holder to travel to a port of entry and request admission. It does not automatically grant an unrestricted right to enter or remain in the country. Immigration or border authorities make admission decisions under the rules of that destination.
Be clear about your purpose of travel
Travelers should be able to explain the genuine purpose of their trip, intended length of stay and planned activities, and show supporting information when requested. Their plans must be consistent with the conditions of their visa or entry permission.
What border officers may ask about
- Reason for the visit and intended activities
- Where you will stay and how long you intend to remain
- Travel itinerary, onward or return arrangements where required
- Funds available to support the visit
- Previous travel and immigration history, and compliance with entry conditions
Before departure
Confirm your passport validity, visa or electronic travel authorization, transit requirements and any other entry conditions using official government guidance. Requirements depend on nationality, destination and travel circumstances.
